Spring is here!

It’s planting time for all of our spring and summer favourites like tomatoes, beans, zucchini and capsicum!

The next working bee is Saturday 1st October at the usual time of 11:30am (after our meeting). There is plenty to be done so make sure you bring your work clothes, hat, drink and gardening gloves so that we can get a bumper crop planted!

See you there.

Log Entry – New Year

Approx 1 Januray 2011 – “The front right bed has been planted to green manure as has the pile of old soil at the back (with generous additions of B&B)… everything already in the garden is looking perky now in part due to the blood & bone David picked up….  there’s plenty of room around the beds still if anyone is keen. :)
Also put in a whole bunch of Japanese parsley, climbing beans, cucumbers & various flowers in little patches around the beds. ”

Charles Kernan Reserve Launch

The wheelchair-bound Lord Mayor Cr Clover Moore officially launched the refurbished Reserve on a sunny Saturday 30 October. There was 300 free coffees and cakes served up and a colourful marching band to celebrate the occasion.

A few gardeners tended to the garden, spreading worm juice fertiliser while I taught about 40 kids and a bunch of parents how to set up and look after a worm farm.

Garden Design Workshop

The Garden Design Workshop was held at Carriageworks on 26 June 2010 with a group of the planning team. After a previous planning workshop and in-depth discussion, the group started plotting out a life-size draft of the design using a measuring tape, chalk and chairs!

Steve Batley, a Landscape Architect from Sydney Organic Gardens, was contracted by the City of Sydney to facilitate the workshop, finalise the design concept and manage the construction of the garden beds.
